President Profile
Chris Kizuik was born and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba. After a high school he enrolled in the Civil Engineering program at Red River College as a member of the MMF (Manitoba Metis Federation). From there, Chris would excel in the Geomatics program where he found his passion in surveying. In 2005, he was recruited by Challenger Geomatics and moved to Edmonton to begin his career. After 7 years with Challenger and a couple different companies afterwards, Chris started to work with Apex Geomatics in 2014. During this time, Chris and then owner Rich Sutton worked towards a deal that would see Chris purchase the business in January 2017. Since then, a lot of unknown events would take place. Working through a downturn in oil and gas, managing operations as a new business owner and eventually having to work through a pandemic… has been quite the ride. Through this adversity, Chris feels he has built the foundation for a stronger than ever Apex. |
“A company built on putting its people first is the key to success. We want to grow our business organically through honest actions and relationships. Building from within and providing equal opportunity for everyone is how I want our company to be known”.- Chris Kizuik |
Living in a new age where technology is ever evolving and so is the way we do business, Chris believes strongly in integrity, reputation, and relationships. “I love meeting people and shaking hands. There is no computer screen or metaverse that can recreate that interaction. Getting to know people is an important part of how I want to do business and build relationships”. As an Aboriginal business owner, it is important for Chris to instill that within the Core values of the company. Apex has established many relationships with Indigenous communities across western Canada and will look to build on those as we grow and expand operations. During his spare time, Chris spends as much of it as possible with his family, playing hockey, snowboarding, biking, working out and giving back to the community whenever he can. |
